The Division of Ozamiz City conducted an orientation about the hiring guidelines stipulated in DepEd Order No. 14, series 2014, to elementary and secondary teacher 1 applicants, school heads and division personnel on January 22, 2015 at Ozamiz City Central School.

Schools Division Superintendent Rebonfamil R. Baguio discussed the details of the hiring guidelines. In his talk, he emphasized that DepEd is in need of teachers who are able to substantially contribute to the development of lifelong learners. He also stressed about the applicant’s honesty as to the documents to be submitted.

An open forum facilitated by SDS Baguio was held to answer queries about the ranking procedures and other related concerns.  Applicants were advised to have a copy of the hiring guidelines for reference.

SDS Baguio directed the new teacher 1 applicants to submit their application letter with corresponding documents on January 26-30, 2015 to the school they are applying. The old ones were instructed to update their records and to write a letter of intent stating that they want to renew their application.

After the submission of documents, the school heads and division personnel who will be serving as the ranking committee shall evaluate each applicant using the following criteria: Education, 20 %; Teaching Experience, 15%; LET Rating, 10%; Experiential Learning Course, 5%; Specialized Training and Skills, 5%; Interview, 10%; Demonstration Teaching, 20 %; and Communication Skills, 15%.

The hiring guidelines were mandated by DepEd to integrate and institutionalize the primary objective of the K to 12 Basic Education Program which is to enhance the overall quality of basic education in the country by hiring highly-competent teachers.
